Long green nephrite jade and pyrite hand knotted necklace

Jade is a universal favourite and this gorgeous necklace is a perfect example of an easy to wear and versatile piece in this beautiful material.

Nephrite jade was highly valued and utilized in Neolithic and Chalcolithic Europe, dating back to around 5000 BCE. In ancient China, nephrite jade held great cultural significance, symbolizing wealth, power, and virtue. Highly valued in prehistoric Taiwan and Southeast Asia, it was used for crafting tools, weapons, and ornaments.

The nephrite jade in this piece has differing shades of muted greens, with each stone faceted adding a subtle sparkle. The ends of the necklace have pyrite details and an ‘s’ clasp to make it easy to double for a different look. Each gem has been knotted by hand on to green silk so the whole piece is supple and feels beautiful to hold and wear.

Adding a cool touch of a shady forest to summer, in autumn and winter it adds a rich, earthy touch.
