Tourmaline is a colorful gemstone with its best recognised colours being pink, red, green, blue and multicolored. The most valuable form of Tourmaline is the rare neon-blue form known by the trade name Paraiba Tourmaline, found in Brazil in 1989. Other valuable forms of tourmaline are Chrome Tourmaline, an intense-green Tourmaline from Tanzania, Rubellite, the pink to red variety, and Indicolite, a rare blue variety. Watermelon tourmaline combines red and green colours in the same stone. Black tourmaline (schorl) is popular as a black gemstone.
