Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate in green or greenish-blue found in the Ural Mountains in Russia, Chile and USA.   It is often found in quartz.  A soft stone, it is best suited to earrings/necklaces where it is unlikely to be knocked.   As the colour is very attractive a number of other stones are treated to imitiate it.
