The internal sides of various shells can display beautiful sheens, patterns and colours.  Eg. Mother of pearl shell is from shells that grow pearls and has a wonderful soft lustre and sheen,  usually a white/cream colour it can be dyed a variety of colours.   Paua shell is from the abalone shell and features predominately vibrant blue and green colours.
