An attention getting necklace even though its style is simple, this turquoise and sterling silver necklace is sublime. Slightly graduated, each piece of turquoise has been separated by a sphere of sterling silver which gives the necklace space and shine and enables you to fully appreciate the quality turquoise.
I haven’t been impressed with a lot of turquoise recently, but these gems have been sitting packed away in my special stash for years and I finally took the plunge to make something with them. When I had them out I realised that they were so gorgeous they needed little adornment to make them wearable, so decided on the simple and timeless addition of sterling silver.
A comfortable 57cm (22.5”) long, this necklace can be worn over a shirt, over a dress neckline or against the skin. I can make it shorter (but not longer) if you think the length isn’t quite right. The clasp is an easy to use large bolt ring.
The fresh colour is reminiscent of sky or water with its black marking grounding it to the earth, so I named it Tethys after the Titan goddess of subterranean sources of freshwater and the wife of Oceanus, in Greek mythology. An appropriate name for an exceptional necklace.
