Hesione – fluorite and sterling silver necklace [AP10-N649]
These stones were love at first sight for me – a magical combination of blue and green that evokes images of sunny Greece and deep waters of the Aegean sea. So if you’ve ever been to Greece, even if it’s just in your dreams, this is your necklace!
Wonderful smooth rectangular slabs of fluorite in a stunning teal colour, there are some colour striations within the stone, which is typical in fluorite and adds an extra bit of ‘zing’! The stones are separated with a simple sterling silver ball to show off the colour of the stones just a little more! Fluorite is one of those stones that require a little extra care (don’t fling it across the room LOL) but its beauty makes that care worthwhile!
To add to the ocean flavour, I’ve used a sterling silver starfish clasp that screws open and can easily be worn as a feature. When fastened, this one of a kind necklace is approximately 19 ¾ inches / 50cm in length.
The wonderful rich blue-green colour and watery transparency led me to name this after Hesione, an Oceanid nymph and wife of the daughter Prometheus in Greek mythology.
