Autumn 2010 offers a rich colour palette. Inspired by the world of film animation there are vivid colours and the opportunity of extraordinary colour combinations.
Winter is full of layered clothes and oversized, cocoon-shaped outerwear. Silhouettes range from elegantly tailored to futuristically amorphous. But jewellery is concise – statement necklaces, particularly those with a geometric feel. Bangles, cuffs and cocktail rings peek out from beneath long sleeves and earrings are predicted to shorter drop styles.
Fusion Coral – think pink coral and peachy freshwater pearls
Violet – think light amethyst
Tuscany – fossil coral and jaspers
Aurora – think calcite or yellow jasper
Amparo Blue – think sapphire
Pink champage – think natural freshwater pearls
Dried herb – think rhyolite, jasper, jade
Eucalyptus – think pyrite
On a base of safe neutral colours, add a dash of vivid brights for excitement!
The jumpsuit, the trench, the biker jacket and classic shirt dress are just a few of the styles which continue to be de-rigueur this spring. Boyfriend blazers, extra long socks and evening gowns with thigh-high slashes.
Key looks include:
*All white – white on white from head to toe. Be sure to wear some statement jewellery with this!
*Leather – the biker jacket continues to be popular – go butter-soft leather for anyone 20 to 50!
*Lingerie inspired – lacy dresses, see through corsetry channels, sheer fabrics giving a peek of skin beneath.
*Jumpsuits & Jodphurs – Jumpsuits - from sporty with hoods and zips to single-shouldered jumpsuits with sequins to workmanlike denim overalls. Wear them with cropped jackets and statement neckpieces. Jodphurs – sleek jodhpurs and berber style pants.
*Short shorts – hot pants, tap pants, boy shorts.
*Trench coats - slouchier and sexier, to be worn with something draped, short or sparkling underneath.
